KELLY HOGAN AND THE PINE VALLEY COSMONAUTS
Beneath The Country Underdog (Bloodshot)
Reviewed by John

Hearing the beautiful pipes of Kelly Hogan is always a treat. Last heard squealing delightfully
on The Sadies record, Hogan shows off her range as she tackles a myriad of countrified
material. Willie Nelson and Johnny Paycheck covers sound right at home with her originals and
the wonderful Stephen Merritt tune "Papa Was a Rodeo". It's taken Hogan a while to get going
since the tragic end of the Jody Grind. Good news for all.
