Once if you saw the Wu-Tang symbol on anything, it meant quality, and I
really really tried to like this as much as his "Only Built For Cuban Linx"
debut, which was a mind-blowing album, but this one just doesn't cut it.
Gone is Ghostface Killah, who you think you hear talking in between the
tracks, and the Wu-Tang Clan's Masta Killah does cameo on "The Table", but
the old flow is reduced to the sound of one very talented MC rhyming all by
himself most of the time. The excellent semi-Wu Cappadonna is missing in
action as well. Pity. Chef Raekwon does get help from the American Cream
Team on a few songs, and Wu-Tang's Method Man on the standout track "Fuck
Them", but it's never quite enough. My advice? Buy "Cuban Linx" and wait for
Wu-Tang Chapter Three. Hopefully it's much better.
