REVEREND HORTON HEAT
Spend A Night In The Box (Time Bomb)
Reviewed by John

A coupla records back the good reverend lapsed and let the devil get the best of him. The sweet
guitar driven rockabilly slipped into a Las Vegas gutter, whilst Butthole Surfer Paul Leary
played noisy havoc at the production helm. I hated that record, though with time, I have come
to accept it, and by gub if it don't have a coupla nifty needles in that prickly haystack. Stay
with me folks. Paul Leary is back twiddling knobs, but lo and behold, this platter is one clean
sounding dish that hearkens back to the early records. And as with every Heat effort, this one
requires your effort as well. One listen won't do. The reverend's twisted and hilarious ways
eventually surface, and it is then that Spend a Night In The Box rises above the rest.
