SAVE FERRIS

Save Ferris? Sure, they're a pop-ska band, right? I mean, a little too
pop to be really ska. And they're on a major label, so how ska is
that, huh? And they have hits. Real chart hits, real movie soundtrack
hits, real hits that actual people listen to and buy and enjoy. So how
ska is that, huh?
Well, not very ska, I suppose. And the fact is, Save Ferris isn't much
of a ska band at all, if purity is important to you. On the other hand,
if horn driven, somewhat ska-influenced pop rock is your kind of thing,
this has to be your kind of band. Whatever they were, that's what Save
Ferris has become, and they've become one of the best of the breed.
Among the various things that it all comes down to is that a band either
has the songs or they don't. There are a lot more good players than
there are label contracts or chart slots or CD budget dollars to go
around, but there are damn few good players playing good songs.
Modified is full of good songs, songs you'll want to hear over and over.
Songs that will become hits.
How ska is that? Not very. How good is it? It's great.
