Lauraville (Serious)
Reviewed by John Sekerka
The mesmerizing, left of center voice of Diana Froley is a sweet gift indeed.
Flushing out her sound with an anti-power trio, Froley manages to retain her
delicate, folk sensibilities whilst adding more instruments to the mix. Among
the charming originals, Froley slips in Tom Owen's "Snickers Bar", which fits
like a glove. Like a Victoria Williams, or a Daniel Johnston, Froley's unique
voice requires a couple of listens to fully take hold, but when it does, watch
out. This homey, front porch record is one to cherish, hug, and keep under yer
pillow.
