CRETIN 66
Burnin' Rubber Outta Hell's Garage

I went apeshit over Cretin 66's second CD on Steel Cage, Demolition Safari, (which was also released with different artwork by this label here) and this earlier one from '99 on a German label is also quite kickin'. On this release, the band was a four piece - they've since slimmed down to a trio for the second CD, but added a new second guitarist since then - and the dual guitars lend a slightly heavier, more "stoner rock" approach on certain songs. Yet their brilliant and often quite hilarious lyrics again shine here, on songs like "She Got The Drugs," "All The Way Or Not At All," "PBR," "Black Flag Records Backwards" and "Rockmotherfuckingrocknroll." One of my faves is the great MC5 tribute, "The Power Of Rob Tyner." They also do a rockin' version of "Farmer John." They have a sound that's hard to pin down - there are equal parts '60s garage rock and psychedelia, '70s hard rock/metal, punk, hardcore and R&B all here, mixed into an intoxicating elixir that gets better with each spin!
