HOUSE OF HEROES
What You Want Is Now (Vanishing Point Records)
Reviewed by Holly Day
Highly sentimental emo ensemble that's managed to throw an amazing range of
styles into that whole emo genre, layering sweeping guitar leads on top of
string ensembles at times, and going just into flat out guitar rock at
others. The band sounds (and looks) very young, which is great because
they're so musically and vocally proficient it makes me believe in this new
generation of rockers out there gosh darned it! The songs are basically your
standard post pubescent fare of lost love diatribes, without a whole lot of
lines sticking out in particular, but the music and vocals compliment each
other so well that each song leaves the listener with a feeling of great
melancholy and loss that lingers on long after the album is done.
