IMMORTAL LEE COUNTY KILLERS
Love Is A Charm Of Powerful Trouble (Estrus)
Reviewed by Alan Wright
The ILCKs are a great two-man combo that play insane
blues-garage-scuzz rock. This is their second album, following their
debut Estrus release The Essential Fucked Up Blues. Kicking off
with the distortion fueled "Robert Johnson," it's a wild ride through
the backwoods of American roots music culture. Blues, rockabilly,
'60s punk, '70s punk, shit it's all here, wrapped up together in a
little ball of exploding energy. They cover folks like Willie Dixon
("Weak Brain, Narrow Mind") and R.L. Burnside ("Goin' Down South"),
as well as some other traditional blues toons like "Rollin' And
Tumblin'" and "Don't Nothin' Hurt Like My Backside" and their own songs,
like "Shitcanned Again" and "Truth Through Sound." Yeah, this is
really great!
