MAGNET
Caffeine Superstar (Magnetic)

Reviewed by Holly Day

Oh, Lordy, I don't know what this album has to do with caffeine, except that I needed to fix myself a cup of coffee to stay awake while I was listening to it.This isn't to say that this is a bad album - it's just so relaxing, and mellow, and quiet, that it'd make great mood music for a coffeshop trying to chase patrons determined to stay awake out at the end of the night - which hey, maybe that's what the title comes from. It is really pleasant, shoegazer acoustic pop, picking up a tiny bit of speed here and there, such as during the country-tinged "Feel No Pain," but not at all during the bizarre psychedelic, organ-punctuated cover of The Ramones "I Wanna Be Sedated."
