MY DAD IS DEAD
The Engine Of Commerce (Vital Cog Records)
Reviewed by Holly Day
Blithely morbid, somewhat self-indulgent synth rock with a good sense of
humor about itself. Everything here is the product of one Mark Edwards, who
seems more that a little convinced (if these songs are any insight into his
character) that the world is somehow set against him, and that any success
stories his life may hold are merely an anomaly in the grand scheme of the
universe. He doesn't, however, let this get him down, and the true story of
these songs is the persistence of a character against insurmountable
odds and the occasional reflection of his/her scant minor triumphs.
