SOLEDAD BROTHERS
Live (Dim Mak)

Recorded at The Gold Dollar in 2000, this is a short (seven songs), but smokin' hot live set by this great blues-rock combo. With a stripped-down sound of guitars, drums and sometimes sax, they shake, stomp and work it on out all over the place. I love their two studio CDs, but this is really fantastic as they really cook here. Plus, only two of the songs are on their studio CDs, the rest being heard here by me for the first time. "Teenage Heart Attack" is one of the best Stones rip-off songs I've ever heard! "Up Jumped the Devil" sounds like "Preachin' The Blues" by Robert Johnson (or the Gun Club). Amazing stuff that puts most whiteboy modern blues to shame!
