Maybe it's the pills, but oo la wee, Uncle Sparky's going orbital on this music, kids. After spending a few hours being hammered by the mostly consistent electronic beat of another dance comp I was reviewing, one less focused on songs than on rhythms, Sparky feels serenaded. It's a nice feeling. This is all music that is perfect for dancing yet even a person who doesn't dance would love it. A person who doesn't dance. Wow. Okay, the world is made up of all kinds and not all of you dance. You're here, you're weird, and I accept you. Let's prance right past this subject and get on with the review. There are songs here. Songs you can sing, not just hop around to. Not just get your groove on to. Okay, not all of them. You're not likely to sing Love Tattoo's "Drop Some Drums" in the shower. Ooh! That's funny! Sorry, I have to write that down. Sparky made a prison joke. Anyhoo, the songs I'm yaking about are tunes like Mad House's "Like A Prayer" and Starchaser's "Love Will Set You Free." These discs are loaded with melodic tracks like those that don't skimp a bit on the bass, the beat or the pretty decorations in the soundtrack. And what is that soundtrack? It's a big, long mix created by Al B. Rich, a DJ in the Big Apple who I never noticed until now. Error corrected. He's now on my list of supertalented DJs who will be doing shows at my club when I'm finally a millionaire.
