Alan Wright was the one who conducted the very first interview in Cosmik Debris Magazine (with The Reprobates, June 1995) and wrote each and every one of our reviews for the first three issues. Over the years, though I never met him face to face, I had countless conversations with him in e-mail, about concerts, albums, things involving Cosmik Debris, life in general, and cats. He really loved cats. Most of all, he loved his wife, Lisa, and music. Being in the music mag business, I've come across many people who know more than the average bear about music. It goes with the territory, of course. But I've never, ever known anyone like Alan. If you mentioned a song, he not only knew the names of everyone on the recording session, he could give you the instruments used and, usually, a good story or two about the day it was recorded. It was endlessly fascinating talking music with Alan. His "voice" was such an important part of Cosmik Debris for so many years that it can never be the same without him. He was also a nice guy and a passionate drummer (seek out The Earaches' CD and I'm sure you'll agree), and everyone who knew him remains heartbroken over his passing. Rest In Peace, Alan.
