THE SECRET PROCESS
Telecommute (K&H Productions)
Reviewed by Ron Saranich
Rob Gwin, ex bass and keyboard player in the San Francisco based group Kooken and Hoomen, is The Secret Process. Telecommute, with contributions from other former Kooken and Hoomen members, features eight original electronic songs sporting more of a jazzy feel than most electronic releases. The spacey yet delicate music, capable of producing an almost trancelike state, is unfailingly inventive and humorous. Gwin's effort, aurally rewarding if the listener is prepared to break the surface of the songs and delve deeply into the music, presents complex ideas and sounds that constantly demand attention. The results are fun. So, purchase or borrow this CD and play it during your next commute to the job. You'll arrive at work a hell of a lot happier.
