BO DIDDLEY
20th Century Masters (MCA)

A quick dozen from the man with the square guitar and the look of mean intentions. It has to
start with "Bo Diddley," of course, and yes, "Mona" is here as well as "Who Do You Love, but
there are going to be some tracks the average person hasn't heard. From the energy of "Don't
Let It Go" to the humor of "Say Man," this is a decent, albeit brief, little collection
of Bo's best. If you're serious about puttin' some Bo into your collection, however, there
are better choices for a few dollars more. His Best, on Chess Records, gives you 20
songs including all but two of these, and for those who really want the scoop there's the 2
disc Chess Box, which gives you 45 tracks for around 25 bucks. On the other hand, the
point of the Millennium
Collection series seems to be giving low cost samplings of a lot of artists, and at 12 bucks,
The Best Of Bo Diddley succeeds just fine. This may be all the Bo you want.
