There was once a group that made the most of a very funky rhythm section, a singer who also played some percussion on stage, and they had a set full of rough rock tunes with a quasi hip-hop feel. That band, Mr. Marainga got tons o'ca$h tossed at them by Way Cool/MCA Records, and the stakes were high, and at least one career hung in the balance as to whether or not they would 'go big'. They got as far as having a track on the soundtrack to Ace Ventura II, but their cd didn't even go aluminum (sales in excess of 100 copies or more), so they shortened their name to Marainga, and are supposedly about to bring out the sequel. That's where Hairy Apes Bootie Moving Xperience come in. These Texans are working in a similar vein, but actually have potential that I don't really think they've reached yet. Fang is a great song, and I'm hoping they'll continue in that direction. The rest of the album is great, but the dorky vocals of Relapse King, and $100 got on my nerves. They have so much potential.
