MORENO VELOSO + 2

If the last, and truly wonderful, Bebel Gilberto record had a male counterpart than this would be it. Also sprung from impressive Brazilian music loins, the young Veloso takes the soothing samba cool of his homeland up another notch, infusing modern sounds much like Gilberto, but focusing more on musical adventure rather than mood settings. Check out the theremin laden "Des Parts" for instance. Mixing old and new in a flawless presentation, Veloso concocts a recipe for both relaxing and grooving. And best of all he sings like an angel. Watch your back, Bebel.
