The Canadian buzz band of the moment, there appears to be no stopping the New Pornographers. Everything Neko Case touches these days turns to gold, and though she is only one of the featured vocalists here, her mark is indelible. Slipping away from her country twang, Case lets loose in the power pop setting the Pornographers provide. This is catchy, over harmonized, repetitive top forty seventies fodder that slips in and out of Cheap Trick and The Sweet modes. When's the last time you heard an "uh-huh" refrain? It's shameless, sugary, bubblegum pop played flawlessly with just enough edge and attitude to give it that all important college cred.
