DECEMBER
The Lament Configuration (Earache)
Reviewed by Jason
Thornberry
Hats off first for the name December, as it's
definitely pertinent to the wintry, coursing
whirlpool of sound that runs swiftly through the
ten tracks of The Lament Configuration. Is this quite possibly
the 'prog' hybrid of extreme metal? The drummer
(Jason Thomas) is scary good,
not with his fills so much, but with his
selection of beats, which are less than your
typical double-bass overload that so many of his
ilk seem inclined toward. December opened for
contemporaries The Dillinger Escape Plan, who may
have been taking notes.
