HOLIDAY FLYER
I Hope (Darla)
Reviewed by Holly Day
Oh, it's sweet and sappy and hopeful and optimistic, but despite all this, I
can't help but absolutely love this album because the lead singer's voice is
just so pretty. Singing the lyrics her brother, John Conley, wrote for her,
Katie Conley's voice reminds one of Ranier Maria or 10,000 Maniacs, just
sweet and soft and simple and perfect for this kind of music. The backing
band's pretty good, too, a quiet guitar-bass-percussion ensemble, but it's
obvious that the main focus of these songs is the singer and not the musical
accompaniment.
