HANDS OF TIME
I Am A Hideous Monster (Off The Hip)
Reviewed by Alan Wright
An excellent Aussie band that do grotty garage with some
psychedelic tinges. Likely named after the Masters Apprentices song
"Wars Or Hands Of Time," and featuring former members of the
Philisteins, Freeloaders and Seminal Rats - all great Aussie punk bands
I've enjoyed - these guys have a decidedly more '60s sound. They cover
the Golliwogs ("Fight Fire"), Cuby & the Blizzards ("Your Body, Not Your
Soul"), the Litter ("Action Woman") and We The People ("In The Past"),
but their originals are the real standouts here. "Dementia's Child,"
"Your (sic) In Your World" and "Don't You Think It's Time You Answered
The Phone" all rock with lots of distorted, fuzzed-out guitars, snotty
vocals and great organ playing. This is really cool!
