MORAL CRUX
Pop Culture Assassins (Panic Button)
Reviewed by DJ Johnson
Portland's poppin' punkers pack heat on Pop Culture Assassins, a baker's dozen
new tunes that have all the elements in place: every beat slams, the vocals
sound street-seasoned and the lyrics wag fingers at folks not as wise and righteous
as Moral Crux. The problem, for me, is that the songs are out of my head as soon as
they are over. Three times through and I can only remember one melody and a single
lyrical hook, despite the fact that while the CD plays I definitely stress out my office
chair with bouncing and spinning the owner's manual specifically says will void the
warranty. This is a butt-kickin' album, but it isn't going to be breaking any new
ground. Then again it's not required to. I just would have liked to find one song
that sticks like glue.
