THOMAS AND RICHARD FROST
Visualize (Rev-Ola)

Reviewed by John Sekerka

Long lost records are a gamble really. Many deserve to be lost, with only a few worthy of resurrection. At first listen, Visualize, a shelved record from the rather obscure Frost brothers, doesn't seem much like an earth shaker, and it isn't, but as a rather fresh piece of innocent sweet pop from the sixties it certainly has its place. The brothers were quick to move on to other genres, disowning these fluffy recordings, and yet the songs have proved to have a remarkable shelf life, while their mod and garage fuzz ventures seem quite dated now. Sure the production is slick and breezy, and there really is no edge to speak of, but the songwriting is exceptional, the arrangements superb, and the boys looked oh so swank in their ascots. They're still playing Donovan records, and this hook-filled slab fits right in.
