THE COSMIC GIGGLE
Chutes And Ladders (Ind.)
Reviewed by John Sekerka
There's much to be queasy about in this package -- the name, the cheesy computer graphics -- but then there's the music. And though squeaky clean power pop has been reeled in before, it's always a treat when someone comes along with a fresh batch of hooks and hum-along choruses. Small jazzy touches gives The Cosmic Giggle a unique flavour. The sound is crystal clear, the playing is bouncy, there's a frivolous fun quotient, and if all this is sounding like a Barenaked Ladies slab, well, so be it.
