ROCKET 350
Junglebilly (Beatville)

Rocket 350 is, among other things, not your father's Oldsmobile. Among
the things they are is an energetic neo-billy trio, with a wealth of
obvious affection for their rockabilly predecessors and a reasonable
amount of talent. I mean, these guys aren't exactly virtuosos, but for
this kind of music, that isn't exactly the point. The afore mentioned
energy and affection will make up for a lack of certain more refined
chops when the subject is three chord rock 'n roll.
Guitarist Phil Stair writes a decent song, plays just fine and has a
terrific rockabilly voice. Brandon Davis plays a credible slap bass and
fills the bagpipe roll when called on. Drummer Tomy Dinneweth keeps
solid time, just like he's supposed to. And they sound like they're
having a lot of fun. That's important, because if the band isn't having
a good time, odds are the audience won't. They must have had a good
time making this one, because I had a good time listening to it.
