FEAR
American Beer (Hall of Records)
Reviewed by Holly Day
You know, I love this because I love FEAR, and I hate it because I love
FEAR. Frontman Lee Ving's rapier-sharp, lowest-common-denominator sense of
humor is almost present on this, but instead of using it to attack social
conventions and dearly-loved holidays like he did in the old days of the
band, he's instead extolling the virtues of Budweiser beer and his penis.
There's even some sappy songs about lost love - hey, where's the Lee Ving
who once shouted, "I don't care about you/Fuck You!"? I know I'm getting
old, but it never hits harder than when I get stuff like this to review.
