The Unspeakable (BSI)
Reviewed by John Sekerka
This thing gives me the creeps. And it ain't just cuz I'm averse to avant
classical productions. The Unspeakable plays just like an aural trip through a
creaky haunted house, starting slow and unsettling, then working into a violin
squawking frenzy. Brooding synthesizers around every corner, indecipherable
whisper chatter from the floorboards, bubbling potions from the laboratory,
distant shrieks from the torture dungeon. Where the hell is Lynda Blair! Every
track a new and distinct creepout, this is indeed an accomplishment, highlighted
by the jittery "Monster Mash" and the almost jovial "Skeleton Dub". The
soundtrack to your personal Blair Witch Project.
