HARRY MANX
Wise And Otherwise (Northernblues)
Reviewed by John Sekerka
Harry is a traveller, and, like many vagabond musician types before him, wound up in India. I think Ringo did this. Anyway, the point being, Harry can now offset his swell blues pieces with a psychedelic bit of exotica, as he does on "Foxy Lady." Nothing like a good mix of traditional folk blues and a sitar raga. Okay it's not a sitar, but a close kin contraption. A Mohan Veena sounds like a delicious entree, but it's really a cross between an acoustic and a sitar. Harry plays it quite well. Surely Hendrix would approve. Oh and Harry really should play the Manx (local watering hole). Manx at the Manx! Has anyone thought of this? Am I alone here? Hello?
