Melodic, evocative, melancholy-sounding group from New York composed of the trio of Ben Brew (guitar), Jeff DaRosa (bass), and Gunnar (drums). The music touches on elements of math rock - especially in the twiddling, minor-chord guitar noodling and arrhythmic percussive arrangements - but is mostly just straight-out, slightly depressing pop music about getting older, being trapped in your own life, and sad things in their neighborhoods. Some of the songs drift a little too close to Sting/Police territory for me to fall completely in love with this album, but there's enough good stuff on here to keep more than a casual interest.
