THE GLORYHOLES
Want A Divorce (Dirtnap Records)

Reviewed by Alan Wright

The Gloryholes come out fighting with their second full-length, the last session ever recorded at Private Radio with one Jack Endino. As much as I dug their debut album, this new one is even better. Better songs, better sound, better rock. I've seen the Gloryholes so many times now that I pretty much knew all the songs on this disc, which was recorded a year ago. Since then, drummer Eric Fenner has split to do his other band, the Ones, full time. Coincidentally, by the time the Gloryholes' first album came out, original drummer Ward Reeder had been replaced by Eric! That said, this CD rocks like a mother, with great singalong songs like "Try To Get Me," "Solid Gold Maximum Booty" and "Wide Awake." Doug White's full-on snotty vocals are contrasted by excellent girlie backing vocals from bassist Melanie Belanger and guitarist Shelly Corwin. Lead guitarist Chris Kenan pulls off amazing lead after amazing lead, and adds even more backing vocals. Absolutely fantastic stuff here.
