SIGNAL TO TRUST
Folklore (Modern Radio Record Label)
Reviewed by Holly Day
This is one of the few albums I've received lately that actually seems like
a concept album. I don't know if that's intentional or not, but I have to
assume it is. The whole album ties together under the idea of modern
folklore, with each song being about wild animals, city landscapes, urban
gods and beasts of burden: spoken word monologues set to a math-rock
ensemble. It's pretty cool, the juxtaposition of a wild man shouting out
about wolves and sparrows and airplanes against a backdrop of electric
guitars and vibrant percussion, and it works really well here.
