THE STUCK UPS
Human Doll Express
(Sympathy For The Record Industry)

The second Stuck Ups is quite different from their first LP-only release on Sympathy. This may in part be due to the fact that singer/guitarist Tiffany is the sole original member left, so this is basically a different line-up than the one that recorded the first LP. On the first LP, they came across as an almost Hardcore Punk version of X-Ray Spex, while this one finds the tempo slowed down and lotsa keyboards happening, plus a lot more backing vocals and more solid drumming. While the songs are still short, and the whole album clocks in at less than 30 minutes, there's more happening in the songs this time around overall. It's a '77 punk meets new wave meets garage rock sound with some great tunes like "Teenage Zombie Knockout," "Go 4 The Girl" and the catchy title track. Cool version of the Monkees-via-Sex Pistols song "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone", too.
