AMELIA'S DREAM
Love Tattoo (Ripe & Ready)

Amelia's Dream is Amelia Gewirtz and Harold Stephan, who worked their
way through a variety of lineups which didn't quite work out while
discovering that they, at least, were working out well enough personally
as well as musically to keep the act together musically while getting
themselves together maritally. For Love Tattoo, they've called on the
talents of a variety of players and songwriting partners, but it's all
built around the sonic landscapes of producer/keyboardist/programmer
Stephan and Amelia's amazing voice.
Stephan wears his affection for 80s techno-pop on his sleeve, and
there's an appealing retro feel to much of the music on the disc, but
it's only a feel. There's enough originality in his approach to keep
you wondering where he's going next, and just exactly how he's going to
get there. Meanwhile, there's Amelia's amazing voice.
Amelia Gewirtz is either a world-weary chanteuse or a tentative woman-
child or a pop diva or whatever she seems to want to be. Or whatever
the song requires her to be. Sometimes she's more than one of the above
in the course of a single song. Sometimes all of them. You see, Amelia
has an amazing voice.
She writes real good songs, too. Amelia's Dream is coming true, and
Love Tattoo is a keeper.
