SUE P. FOX
Light Matches, Spark Lives (Kill Rock Stars)

Reviewed by Shaun Dale

When she's not providing vocal support to Olympia, WA, bands like Kicking Giant or Witchy Poo or working the retail counter for KRS, Sue P. Fox does spoken word performances that express a comfortingly disturbing world view. This stuff isn't always easy to listen to, but I'm glad there's someone saying it.

If poetry slams make you want to put your head in a bucket and scream, you'll want to stay away from this one, but if you sometimes get the feeling that you're either the only sane or the only crazy person on the planet, Sue P. Fox has something to say to you. The CD compiles her entire spoken word output from 1993 to 1999. It's a fin de seicle festival, a hard look at a hard time. It's sick. It's strange. It's wonderful.
