THE MOLDY PEACHES
The Moldy Peaches (Rough Trade/Sanctuary)
Reviewed by John Sekerka
Oh this is good. Take early Jonathan Richman style gusto folk rock, bring the
musicianship down a couple of notches (it's possible I tell you), and bring up
the frivolous, imaginary lyric content a couple of notches (again, it is
possible I tell you), and you have The Moldy Peaches. There's just no denying
the sweet lure of campfire sing-alongs like "Who's got the Crack," "Steak for
Children," "Lucky Charms" and "Downloading Porn with Davo" - The Peaches are IT!
Adam Green is the unkept, gawky guitarist and Kimya Dawson dresses up in fuzzy
rabbit suits. They do a lot of singing and goofing around, all in an inviting,
unpretentious way. Soon the world will be bouncing and singing along joyfully to
the groovy sounds of The Moldy Peaches: "who-oose got the crack?" c'mon
everybody!!!
