VARIOUS ARTISTS
The Funky 16 Corners (Stones Throw)

This is a nearly seamless collection of the
dopest old grooves you thought hadn't been
discovered yet. I probably should have been
listening to this album on vinyl, but my $79
K-Fart boom-box will have to do for now.
What sets this apart from any other album of
mixed up funk fragments is the presence of Cut
Chemist (of Jurassic 5) and Peanut Butter Wolf,
to a couple of the contributors and six second
morsel obsessives, who all mined audio bullion
this time.
Uncovering gems like Slim and the Soulful Saints
and The Kashmere Stage Band, and giving them the
appropriate illumination, was what every one of
the elder artists on this CD have always
deserved.
