For quite some time now, white men have tried to play the blues, mostly to little or no success, money notwithstanding. The Black Keyes, a very white guitar and beat up drum kit duo, come damn close. Suppose hanging out with T-Model Ford may have something to do with it. Dan Auerbach messes with his triplofonic guitar in excellent late night juke joint fashion, and his well worn raspy growl belies his unfortunate Caucasian lineage. He has the gift. The Black Keyes belong on the stage at the next Clarksdale Blues Festival, and that my friends, is saying plenty.
