GREG BROWN
Milk of The Moon (Red House)

Reviewed by Eric Steiner

Greg Brown has kept the troubadour tradition alive on his 21st CD. His latest Red House Records CD delves into some pretty personal territory, like the playful "A Little Excited" and "Let Me Be Your Gigolo." These two songs are proof positive that middle aged lust is very much alive and well, and as I'm nearing what Spalding Gray calls "the Bermuda Triangle of health," I'm pleased that Greg's as inspired by his love as a giggly teenager. If you haven't discovered Greg Brown's heartfelt and articulate storytelling, Milk of the Moon is a good start. Then, go out and get CDs like Slant Six Mind or his 2000 release, Covenant. A true masterpiece by an American original who's keeping the singer-songwriter tradition fresh.
