KEY LIME PIE
Cookin' (self-released)
Reviewed by Holly Day
The good news is that this album isn't even close to being as bad as the
cover suggests - the cover sports a photo of a woman dressed as a waitress
with a kitchen exploding behind her, and that just suggests Bad Heavy Metal
to me. However, the disc contains 12 tracks of decent, fun hillbilly rock
and adult contemporary jazz, like a cross between Steely Dan and Lynard
Skynard without all the references to boozin', shootin', or misogyny. The
instrumentation is great, with cool wailing harmonica interludes, unexpected
jazzy rhythms, and pleasant male and female vocals.
