Kind of reminds me of early Bowie stuff, bordering on folk ballads but with
a psychedelic aspect added to them, lots of beautiful minor chords that
trail off into nothing, strange bits of electronic guitar fuzz that seem to
come out of nowhere for no reason - this is about half the record. The other
half just sounds like your standard alternative pop stuff, with loud,
explosive chords and group harmonies and points of quiet musical
interlude - the standard formula. The songs themselves are weirdly constructed
"stories" about cocaine, love, liposuction, and faithfulness.
