PRIVATE ELEANOR
Deciduous (OTP)

Private Eleanor is the project of solo musician Austin Stahl, an obviously talented singer/songwriter who has rekindled my faith in home recording artists. This is just a great collection of melancholy, mostly acoustic songs with electronic augmentation added, like weirdly-miked vocals and the occasional keyboard and droning bass line. I hesitate to call it folk music, just because the music strays into so many territories, such as bossa nova, jazz, and peevish-sounding rock, that it really can't just be confined to that one section of music. It's so nice to get something like this and just know that it wasn't thrown together in an afternoon, that real effort was put into writing and assembling this material.
