ROGER MIRET & THE DISASTERS
self-titled (Hellcat)

Roger Miret & the Disasters create punk rock in the vein of Anti-Nowhere
League and Fear: loud, melodic, with great crashing power chords and
anthemic chorus lines. Miret's got a great singing voice for this style of
music, too, which means that if he was singing in any other kind of band, it
would sound like off-key karaoke, his wobbly, loud voice unable to decide
which register to hang around in. But for punk rock it's just great, in all
its rough and raw-sounding energy. It's kind of silly listening to a grown
man sing about kicking things and getting in bar fights in this day and age,
but the songs are performed with such gusto that you can't help enjoying
them anyway.
