SOMETHING CORPORATE
Leaving Through The Window (MCA/One Way)

Reviewed by Shaun Dale

Although there's still a healthy dose of thrash in the mix, Something Corporate emphasizes the pop end of the pop-punk formula this time around, and in the process they establish themselves as masters of the form. As they crank out 14 tales of forlorn love, plans gone astray, hopes still burning and other coming of age issues, they demonstrate a level of musicianship that puts them at the front of the pack. While the songs are as good as most, they still haven't crafted the material to match their performance skills.

They're making progress, though, and when they make that breakthrough they're likely to be a formidable contender in the pop music world for as long as they want to be.
