CHRISOPHER BLUE
Songs for Lovers, Loners & Losers (Self)
Reviewed by Holly Day
This is like listening to two separate and equally wonderful records. The
first half of the CD is just Chrisopher Blue singing along with his
electric guitar, sad and melancholy and deep and dark and beautifully
maudlin. For the second half of the CD, Blue brings on more instruments and
becomes even more dark, throwing in lots of religious and death references
with the harsh sounding keyboards and percussion and a guitar that seems to
throw itself in and out of tune of its own angry volition. Blue's music is
so beautifully bitter and sulky that I'd hate to have him write anything
about me, but it's lots of fun listening to the vicious, bitingly petty and
clever things he says about everyone else in his songs.
