MIDNIGHT EVILS
Straight 'Til Morning (Estrus Records)
Reviewed by Holly Day
This band has been kickin' around Minnesota for a few years now in various
incarnations, and anyone here could have told you that these guys'd be
signed to a real label sooner or later. The Evils are just about the
tightest old school garage rock/bar band in the vein of AC/DC recording
today, with just amazing guitar licks and percussion as the driving force.
The songs are as lyrically funny and clever as they are musically fun to
rock out to, touching on such important subjects as fast girls, fast cars, all
types of alcohol, and the importance of being a bad ass. Not sure what
their next album is going to be like, since they've since parted ways with
their lead singer, but since the "backing" band is what really makes the
Midnight Evils worth listening to, I'm sure there'll be nothing but good
coming from them in the future.
