THE HEPTONES
Deep In The Roots (Heartbeat)

Reviewed by John Sekerka

What is it about summer and good roots reggae? Ladies and gentlemen: The Heptones Mach II. One of Jamaica's most beloved bands struggled to find its place after the departure of Leroy Sibbles, but though record sales dipped, The Heptones managed to release some fine music. Combining unreleased tracks with highlights from "Better Days" and "King of My Town," Deep In The Roots is a swell primer of the post-Leroy line-up, but more importantly, a reminder that relaxing summer reggae slabs just never go out of style.
