DUB WAR
Pain (Earache)

Reviewed by Jason Thornberry

From Newport, Wales comes this now-departed band who blended metal, funk, prog-rock, and (hence the name), dub-reggae. Excellent, excellent vocals, and lots of changes (straight-up be-bop jazz, thrash-metal, hardcore, etc.), to hoist up their big, catchy choruses (see "Strike It", or "Mental"). The musicianship is top-notch, and it's quite a shame that more didn't happen for these guys. So much potential...
