SMOKIN' JOE KUBEK
Bite Me (Bullseye Blues and Jazz)

Smokin' Joe Kubek's latest CD, Bite Me, has hit the target on Bullseye Records. Bite Me is this year's follow-up to his last Bullseye disc, Take Your Best Shot. Along with longtime sidekick Bnois King, Bite Me begins strong with "If You Know What I'm Sayin" a smoldering title cut, and quick, up tempo rockers like "All About That Thang" and "Don't Go Left on Me." Smokin' Joe and Bnois have got Texas blues covered on this disc. For me, the title track is mistitled, though: it grooves like a smooth jazz thing, and I wish Smokin' Joe would stick to the blues, 'cause he's got chops to spare. He's an above-average songwriter, too, and that's what sets Bite Me apart from your average blues disc.

Track List:

If You Know What I'm Sayin' * Bite Me * That's No Way * All About That Thang * Lay It On Me, Leona * I Gotta Have It * . Ready To Learn * Rollercoaster Love * Player Got Played * Don't Go Left On Me * I Know What's Right
