THE KILLINGTONS
The Killingtons (Meg)

Reviewed by Shaun Dale

The Killingtons have spent five years cranking out tracks for compilation discs, putting wear and tear on their touring van and tightening up their songs in front of a growing cadre of fans before putting together their first full length CD. That's mighty refreshing at a time when so many band bios seem to run along the lines of "We met last week and realized we had something special so we signed with a major and here it is..."

The music here is mighty refreshing to. Edgy hard rock with a pop heart, it's got a SoCal feel without succumbing to the cliches of pseudo-ska or Epitaph pop-punk. This is a real rock band, with talented singers and players who aren't afraid to sell the hook and songs that sound like somebody actually thought about what they sound like. If you've been missing that kind of band, this is the band you've been missing. With the release of The Killingtons, you don't have to miss them anymore.

Isn't that refreshing?
