War Of The Worlds (T-Bone)

Now this is pretty cool! The original 1939 broadcast of War Of The Worlds, which made a star of Orson Welles and scared the hell out of a lot of people who didn't know it was a radio show, set to modern electronica music. The overall effect is dramatic, intense and hypnotic. A lot of this music fits perfectly with the storyline, and what little doesn't fit doesn't register by the time you get there because you are so into the story. The artists listed are all from T-Bone Records, and who knows how many people really make up these "groups." Could be two or three, for all I know. The names are entertaining, though. How about King Latifa, The Sexual Honky, Dr. Snodgrass or DJ Clusterfuk, for starters? Whoever they are, they create just the right kind of spooky atmosphere for the words of Welles and his crew to settle into. You know, I must have heard War Of The Worlds a hundred times in my life, so I'm very pleased to hear it with a new spin. Replacing the dramatic performance itself would have been a crime. This works out just right.
